I've read all 4 books in the Immortalis series & I never understood why, after meeting Fallon, every one wanted a story about her. I must admit I am a vampire fan, which probably clouded my judgement a bit and I suppose I never understood how anyone would pass up the chance to become a vampire. But this isn't my book or my series. After reading Moonlight I realized that Katie Salidas had something else in mind for Fallon. And what a story she told! Katie was able to pack quite a tale into her novella!! It was exciting, fast paced and I really just couldn't put it down. Katie helps you see into the werewolves' world and what draws Fallon there (love). Why she chooses to become a werewolf instead of a vampire. This book pretty much has it all... paranormal, romance, violence, the hint of betrayal and hot steamy sex!!! Katie Salidas is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors!
So if you haven't yet read her books, do it, you won't be disappointed!
Such intense decisions to make, such intense feelings felt, such dramatic actions that were taken, couldn't ask for a more thrilling story.
I first met Fallon in the Immortalis series. I liked the close friendship that she and Alyssa shared but I always felt she deserved her own story and Ms. Salidas got it right!
Moonlight was perfect! About to become Alpha female and mate to the Olde Town pack Alpha, Fallon must transition to wolf for the first time while simultaneously show she can hold her own.
Katie Salidas is very good at putting the reader in the scene with the characters you are reading about. The reader sees, smells,feels everything that Fallon does.
A fun read for me! Katie Salidas really is a wonder woman!
Fallon had to overcome her fears and made some life changing decisions to be accepted by Aiden’s pack. Aidan had to show his strength and leadership to protect Fallon and keep his Alpha status. With pack politics playing hard and enemies ready to pounce they would need allies to survive. Like these stories with drama, intrigue, issues that require taking a stand and power play and this story had all. Also, like how the stories entwine the characters giving continuity to the stories.
I've previously read the author's Immortalis series, so I came into this with high expectations. I can't say I'm disappointed either.
Before I say anything else, I highly suggest that this book only be read after they've read Immortalis Carpe Noctem, Hunter & Prey, Pandora's Box, and Soulstone. I actually read the sample of this before I ever read the Immortalis series, and I immediately knew that I needed to read that series before I could truly appreciate it.
If you've read Immortalis Noctem, you generally know what to expect. Katie Salidas has an enjoyable "voice" in her writing and produces very entertaining stories. The only noticeable difference is that this one felt more like a Paranormal Romance, while the others felt like Urban Fantasy with romantic elements to them. As I'm a fan of both, generally, that did not bother me in the least.
To be honesty, I'd love to have given the story five stars. I did enjoy it just as much as the second book of the Immortalis series, which I gave a five star rating for. But I felt that the plot was a little lacking. It served its purpose well enough, but I could not help but feel as if there could have been more to it.
So in the end, I have to say that it's a 4.5 star book.
I eagerly anticipate future works in this... story world and will be keeping an eye out for them.
I've enjoyed all of Katie Salidas' books in the Immortalis series, so I looked forward to reading this one. "Moonlight" carries on the series and shows us Fallon, Alyssa's best friend, and Aiden, werewolf Alpha of the Olde Towne wolf pack. As in the previous four books prior to this one, Fallon is human and deeply in love with Aiden. When Aiden's father died, Aiden became Alpha by blood, not by trial. Part of the ritual in becoming the true Alpha, means he must have a wolf mate. The pack has trouble-accepting Fallon as the Alpha female because she is not a wolf. So now, Fallon must face the decision of either turning away from Aiden & the pack, leaving them all behind, or accept her destiny & become a werewolf herself. However, there is dissension in the ranks of the Olde Towne wolf pack. Two other werewolves want the role of Alpha and will do anything to get what they want.
I have enjoyed how author, Katie Salidas, builds her characters & their world, & fits together each facet of her story. As I said, I looked forward to reading this story. I hoped that she would put as much creativity into her description of turning werewolves as she did turning vampires. It was not as I had hoped, but she did not disappoint. There were points in the story that I felt needed a little more punch. For instance, though Fallon fought her final fight with due diligence, I would have liked to have read that Fallon took the final blow to her nemesis instead of the pack becoming involved. With Fallon going through all that pain and agony & nearly being killed, it felt somewhat anti-climactic to have the pack finish the fight. Showing the pack as supportive here worked for the story, but I felt that Fallon was gypped.
Though I have my opinions on minor details that I feel would better if written differently, it doesn't steal from the fact that Salidas did an awesome job with this story! I must say, these books get better with each one.
